Long-Term Lounges
Most exhibit elements, including everything from pop-up banners to pipe and drape, scream "temporary." But when you're hoping to attract permanent or
at least long-term customers, fly-by-night furniture just won't do. Looking more like fixed office installations than short-lived groupings, these six lounge areas suggest a long-term relationship between attendee and exhibitor, and give an air of stability and dependability to their respective brands. Think Pink
Exhibitor: Daimler AG Show: Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung Design: Braunwagner GmbH, Aachen, Germany, 49-241-40-10-72-0, www.braunwagner.de Pink is a power color. Or at least that was the case in this hospitality lounge, which featured contemporary furnishings, shag-thick carpet with a mirror-like inlay, and glossy surfaces throughout. Neon lights and a stately overhead element topped off the dramatic design. Brick and Order
Exhibitor: Schlegel GmbH Show: EuroShop Design: Schlegel GmbH, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, 49-7142-98-99-80, www.schlegel-concepts.com German retail-design agency Schlegel GmbH turned to contrasting colors and textures to create a lovely lounge space. A white, textured, faux-brick treatment applied to the exhibit's back wall created an eye-catching contrast against the black laminate and grass-green cushions. PHOTO: Steve Eastell Photography
Power Combination
Exhibitor: Viacom Inc. Show: Marché International des Programmes de Télévision Design: Glow Exhibitions, Marina del Rey, CA, 310-566-5690, www.glowstudio.com Positioned in front of a grass-covered wall, this furniture in Viacom Inc.'s blue hue practically reached out and grabbed attendees by the eyeballs. The pairing's texture variations – soft furniture and a rough, 3-D back wall – supported the almost alarming effect. Posh but Penny Wise
Exhibitor: Skyline Exhibits Show: EXHIBITOR Show Design: Skyline Exhibits, St. Paul, MN, 651-234-6592, www.skyline.com You don't need to have scads of cash to create a permanent impression. Skyline Exhibits paired custom-constructed, laminate-covered tables with cushioned chairs from Ikea North American Services LLC. With gold drapery as a backdrop, the combination was both inexpensive and effective. Simply Stylish
Exhibitor: 3D Exhibits Inc. Show: EXHIBITOR Show Design: 3D Exhibits Inc., Schaumburg, IL, 800-471-9617, www.3dexhibits.com Sometimes the more uncomplicated the design is, the more classy and urbane the effect becomes. That was the case for this grouping from 3D Exhibits Inc. Contemporary furniture, smooth surfaces, and uncomplicated shapes combined to form a seemingly effortless space. PHOTO: Olaf Schieman
Neutral Zone
Exhibitor: Solon Energy GmbH Show: Solar Expo Design: SMD+Partner, Aachen, Germany, 49-241-609-14-0, www.smd-partner.com Awash in neutral beige and white hues, bathed in brilliant white light, and featuring slick surfaces, this modest space for Solon Energy GmbH proved that simple colors and forms still pack a punch. Paired with the wall's curves, the furniture's straight lines provided an eye-catching allure. |
