✭ YES, YOU MEXI-CAN
San Antonio features some of the best cuisine in the country. If you're looking for Mexican, try Garcia's Mexican Food, which has been around since 1962, or La Fonda on Main, which has been around since 1932. But don't forget that while San Antonio is known for its Mexican cuisine, it's also still deeply Southern, with 2M Smokehouse accepting the title of Best BBQ from San Antonio Magazine, as well as honorable mentions for Smoke Shack, BBQ Station, and South BBQ & Kitchen, which has BBQ tacos. Who doesn't love fusion?

✭ SUDS IN SAN ANTONE
San Antonio features dozens of craft breweries, including Alamo Beer, which began in the late 1870s and was later absorbed by Anheuser-Busch's Lone Star Brewing Company. It was thought to be dead after Prohibition, but in 2003 a Texas transplant, Eugene Simor, bought and reopened the brewery. Others not to miss are Blue Star Brewing Company, Ranger Creek (which also has a whiskey distillery), and Back Unturned Brewing Company.

✭ PARK IT
Nature lovers and San Antonio are a match made in heaven, with far too many public parks to count, including the Japanese Tea Garden, where you can get Asian cuisine with a San Antonio flair in the park, and the San Antonio Botanical Gardens and Natural Bridge Caverns.

✭ BOOT SCOOT
No trip to Texas would be complete without some cowboy boots. And it's even better if those boots are Texas-sized. Bob “Daddy-O” Wade built a towering pair, coming in at 35 feet tall and 33 feet long. The impressive footwear was originally installed in Washington, D.C., but the boots now sit in San Antonio, outside North Star Mall. According to Roadside America, the artist claimed the boots could hold 300,000 gallons of beer. We're curious how he tested his claim, but are convinced only a Texan would try.

✭ CHILLS and THRILLS
For fans of all things spooky, San Antonio is known as one of the most haunted places in America, and it has plenty of ghost tours. In addition to the Sisters Grimm Ghost Tours, Bad Wolf Ghost Tours, and RJA Ghost Tours is a ghost tour you can do on a Segway via Segway Tours of San Antonio. This really has us wondering: If ghosts are real, what do they think of Segways?

✭ ON A MISSION
San Antonio houses the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas — the San Antonio Missions. These missions were established in the 18th century by Spanish priests, and the four here are a part of the National Park. The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park also has active parishes that hold regular services. These structures are well over 250 years old, and seeing them is a testament to history. The most famous of all is The Alamo. Whether you're seeing it for its Texas-sized history or for an affinity for Ozzy Osbourne, this historic Spanish mission has guided tours, a museum, and even living history, where you can travel all the way back to the 1830s. The missions are connected by a trail, perfect for walking or biking. Each mission is about 2.5 miles from the next, and the length of the trail is 13.9 miles. It takes around 4.5 hours to complete.

RANDOM FUN FACT:

San Antonio's Lanier High School holds the Guinness World Record for most tamales made in a 12-hour period, clocking in at 17,106 — a number so impressive that no one has been able to break that record since it was set in December 2011.
