Exhibit Recycling

Q.
My company has several small, old exhibits in our warehouse. How can I dispose of them at minimal cost and with little impact on the environment?
A.
One option is to sell your properties. Some exhibit houses will buy back properties to be used as rentals or broken down into their modular components and reused in new exhibits. Or, you can sell your booths to used-exhibit brokers such as ExhibitTrader.com or Lucky Exhibits. However, if your properties are beyond the reuse state, you can always disassemble the components and recycle them for minimal cost, or sometimes, for profit. Most metal recyclers will pay you a weight-based price for aluminum. And most recycling centers will accept your plastic cases for free and then later grind them up for reuse. Laminate and wood components are less easy to recycle, but there are some centers that will take these for a minimal fee. Plus, your exhibit components won't end up in a landfill.
So before you schedule a haul-away Dumpster, check with used-exhibit buyers and local recyclers. A few calls and a bit of dismantling could clear out your storage space and put a bit of change in your pocket.
