on't loaf and invite inspiration; light out after it with a club," wrote Jack London in "Getting into Print." And that's exactly what the team at EXHIBITOR magazine did in February of this year. Instead of waiting for inspiration to show up on their doorstep, writers, editors, and executives lit out after it with a club. Or rather, they hopped the pond to EuroShop 2014 and took off after it with their cameras.

EuroShop, The Global Retail Trade Fair that's held once every three years in Dusseldorf, Germany, draws more than 100,000 attendees in search of not only products and services, but also their own little spark of inspiration. While the show's 2,000 exhibitors hope those sparks ignite a firestorm of sales, exhibit designers the world over look to the event as a source of inspiration – and most go home with enough creative juices to keep them cranking out amazing concepts for another three years.

Needless to say, the 2014 show didn't disappoint, as EXHIBITOR staff found inspiration lurking in each of the show's four sections: EuroConcept (shop fitting, lighting, architecture), EuroSales (product presentation, visual merchandising, and point-of-sale marketing), EuroCIS (retail technology), and EuroExpo (exhibit and event design and construction).

This photo gallery offers a smattering of the most inventive ideas we found throughout the show's 16 buildings. Featuring everything from exhibit walls made of suitcases to a conference center in the shape of a giant hand, the photos are bound to ignite the fires of imagination for your own program.
